Springtails:
They belong to the Collembola family. Springtails are small white insects about 1/16 of
an inch in length. They feed on plant substances undergoing decay. In fact they eat almost anything.
Aquarists have found springtails to be a rather desirable food because they remain alive for a long
period of time on the aquarium water surface waiting to be consumed. Also, they have very soft bodies.
They can be cultured in small plastic shoeboxes.
